LESSON PLAN

Math, Patterns & Business

Grade level: 4th

This lesson can use local businesses as concrete examples of some abstract computational thinking concepts. There are also ways to incorporate group collaboration and public speaking into the assignment.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify a rule to complete a pattern

  • Use a pattern to identify the rules

  • Interpret a table, identify an inexplicable rule, and apply the relation between two numbers given to complete or extend the table based on a real world small business plan

Isabella says:

Having my own business (conchas for pets and people) would be great. There’s a lot of decisions you have to make and a lot of math, but I think I could figure it out!
